Vehicles processed per hour and how deep the line runs, by lane. When the queue crosses the point where it backs onto the road, you hear about it while you can still open another lane.
Trailer dwell time in the yard
How long each trailer has been parked and where. Detention charges and lost equipment both come out of the same blind spot — a yard nobody has walked since Tuesday.
Yard inventory by zone
A continuous count of what's actually on the ground versus what the yard system believes. The two drift apart constantly, and reconciling them by eye takes someone an hour a day.
Blocked bays and fire lanes
Vehicles parked where they stop other work — in front of a bay, across a lane, in the turning path. Timed from the moment they land, so it's a nudge rather than an incident report.
Platform and concourse crowding
Occupancy and flow in passenger areas, with buildup flagged before it becomes a crush. Staffing decisions get made on what's happening now instead of what happened last quarter.
